The Chicago Muslim Medical Alliance (CMMA) held its Second Annual Educational Symposium Luncheon on Sunday, October 14th at Shalimar Banquets and physicians from all over Chicagoland came to attend the immersing event. The topic, “Clinical, Ethical, and Spiritual Aspects Relating to End of Life Care,” created a lot of buzz in the medical community and CMMA welcomed over 200 physicians from all religious denominations for the two hour CME provided by IMANA.
When CMMA first began, one of its fundamental tenets was to provide care for elderly Muslims and, Alhumdulillah, that work has begun.
As CMMA has grown in membership and support, it has been able to expand its offerings for elderly Muslims in two Chicagoland nursing homes. Currently, Forest View Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Itasca and Transitional Care of Arlington Heights are working with CMMA to provide care for Muslim patients under Islamic leadership. As-salam Alikum
On February 18 we witnessed a community event focusing on our youth. The goals were to have our youth understand the life of a refugee child, promote the act of charity by creating a gift bag and bringing attention to the catastrophic situation of Rohingya refugees. CHICAGO MUSLIM MEDICAL ALLIANCE, CMMA hosted its first medical conference and annual meeting on October 22nd in Chicago at Shalimar banquet hall.
